Sauerkraut with franks dinner 

Sauerkraut is a German dish manly consumed is cold weather. The name means sauer (sour) kraut (cabbage). This dish is very nutritional and yet easy to make. My parents lived in Germany for many years and they brought with them lots of German traditions and recipes, including the sauerkraut. That was our Sunday comfort food. The food that all the family gather around it and makes you feel the winter vibes. My mom use to make it with beef franks, mashed potatoes, steamed green peas and brown sauce (beef gravy). This is a very good way to upgrade the dish to a fancier. Level. But today I’m giving you something delicious also and you can prepare it in 20 min and the dinner is served.

Ingredients:

. 1 package sauerkraut 
. 1/2 chopped onion 
. 1 bay leaf 
. 1 bouillon cube 
. 1 tbsp butter  
. Black pepper 
. Dash of Nutmeg 
. Beef franks 
. Beef gravy. 
. Fries 

How to make it:

  1. In a pan, melt the butter and stir the onion in it, meanwhile, rinse the sauerkraut in a colander under cold water. Add the sauerkraut into the onion, add the bouillon cube, bay leaf, black pepper and nutmeg. I don’t add salt because the sauerkraut is already salted and the bouillon as well. 
  2. Cook the franks in a pan with a small amount of oil. 
  3. Fry the potatoes 
  4. I use knorr beef gravy you can use whatever you like. 
Serve and enjoy immediately.
